Cambria vs Caesarstone: Which Quartz Brand Fits Your Home?

Share

Cambria vs Caesarstone is a comparison between two of the best-known names in quartz. Cambria is a family-owned company that makes its slabs in Minnesota and backs them with a transferable full lifetime warranty. Caesarstone says it invented quartz surfaces in 1987, makes its slabs in Israel and India, offers a lifetime warranty to the original owner, and sells an Outdoor Collection that Cambria does not.

Both make high-end marble looks, and both need no sealing. The differences show up in warranty rules, outdoor options and the character of each brand's designs. Here is a fair side-by-side. Our quartz brands guide covers the rest of the market.

Where Cambria and Caesarstone Are Made

Cambria is a Davis family business. Its slab plant in Le Sueur, Minnesota broke ground in 1999, and Cambria describes its products as family owned and American made.

Caesarstone is a publicly traded company that says it pioneered the quartz surface category in 1987. It runs manufacturing plants in Israel and India and sells in more than 50 countries. Caesarstone has also added porcelain and other non-quartz surfaces to its range, so when you shop, confirm that the product you are looking at is one of its quartz lines.

Cambria vs Caesarstone Designs

Both brands are strong in white marble looks. The difference is in style and range.

Cambria's signature designs have large, dramatic veining. Brittanicca sets bold gray veins on bright white, Inverness Frost has intricate off-white veining on cool white, and Lakedale blends warm tan and cool gray with charcoal speckles. You can see more on our Cambria colors page.

Caesarstone spans plain solids, speckles, concrete looks and marble looks. Pure White is a smooth solid white, Frosty Carrina is a Carrara-style white with soft gray veins, and Empira White has branching gray veins on a clean white base. Caesarstone also offers honed and textured finishes on some colors.

For the most convincing marble looks from both brands, see our guide to quartz that looks like marble. If you want a bright solid white or a concrete look, Caesarstone has more choices. If you want one of Cambria's bold veined designs, those are only available from Cambria.

Thickness and Slab Size

Cambria lists a jumbo slab of 132 by 65.5 inches and makes 1, 2 and 3 cm thicknesses. Most Caesarstone quartz comes in 2 cm and 3 cm on jumbo slabs. The 1 cm option gives Cambria an edge for wall cladding and overlays, while both brands cover standard countertop thicknesses. See our countertop thickness guide for how to choose.

Cambria vs Caesarstone Warranty

This is where the two brands differ most.

Cambria offers a transferable Full Lifetime Warranty for products purchased and installed in the US or Canada after September 1, 2018. It passes automatically to later owners, and not registering does not reduce your rights. It applies when Cambria-approved fabricators and installers do the work.

Caesarstone offers a Residential Lifetime Warranty to the original owner of a single-family residence when a Caesarstone Certified Fabricator fabricates and installs it. You must register within 30 days of installation. If you sell, the new owner can receive a prorated 10-year limited warranty from the original installation date, provided you registered and notify Caesarstone in writing.

Both exclude heat damage, impact, outdoor installs of indoor product and fabrication issues. For resale, Cambria's automatic transfer is the stronger term. Our quartz countertop warranty guide goes deeper.

Outdoor Quartz: Caesarstone Has an Option

For South Florida, this can decide the question. Cambria's warranty excludes outdoor installs, including partly covered ones, and lists areas exposed to saltwater as an unintended use.

Caesarstone sells an Outdoor Collection, badged for outdoor kitchens, with its own 10-year residential limited warranty. Colors include Palm Shade and Midday. If you want your indoor and summer kitchens to match, Caesarstone gives you a path. Read our outdoor quartz countertops guide before you plan one.

Heat and Everyday Care

Neither brand is heatproof. Cambria says it may not withstand direct heat from pots and pans and recommends a closed-weave hot pad or solid trivet. Caesarstone's care guide says to always place hot cookware on trivets and hot pads. Both clean with a soft cloth, warm water and mild detergent, and neither needs sealing. Our quartz cleaning guide covers what to avoid.

How to Compare Cambria and Caesarstone Samples

A small sample rarely tells you how a veined design will look across a 10-foot island. When you narrow it down to one Cambria and one Caesarstone color, compare them this way:

  1. Look at full slabs or large photos of full slabs. Vein spacing on a bold marble look can change a lot across one slab.
  2. Check both samples in your kitchen, in morning and evening light, next to your cabinet door and floor.
  3. Compare the finish, not only the color. A matte or honed surface shows fingerprints and oil differently than a polished one.
  4. Ask about thickness and slab size for your layout, so you know where seams will fall.
  5. Read the warranty for your situation: original owner, future sale, rental or condo.

If you like a design from each brand equally, let the practical points decide: resale and transfer terms favor Cambria, and a matching outdoor kitchen favors Caesarstone.

Which Is Better: Cambria or Caesarstone?

Pick by the criterion that matters most to you:

  • Warranty that follows the house: Cambria.
  • Made in the USA: Cambria.
  • Matching indoor and outdoor kitchens: Caesarstone, through its Outdoor Collection.
  • Plain solid whites and concrete looks: Caesarstone has more of them.
  • A specific bold veined design: whichever brand makes the slab you love, since designs are exclusive to each.

Cost depends on the color, the size of the job, edges and cutouts. Start with our quote calculator, and see our kitchen and bath countertops page for how a project runs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cambria better than Caesarstone?

Neither is better on every count. Cambria is American made and has a transferable full lifetime warranty. Caesarstone introduced quartz surfaces in 1987, has more solid whites and concrete looks, and sells an Outdoor Collection. Choose based on warranty needs, design and whether you need an outdoor product.

Is Caesarstone quartz?

Caesarstone makes quartz surfaces and says it pioneered the category in 1987. It also now sells porcelain and other non-quartz surfaces, so confirm you are looking at one of its quartz lines.

Is the Caesarstone warranty transferable?

Only in part. The Residential Lifetime Warranty is for the original owner. If that owner registered and notifies Caesarstone in writing, the new owner receives a prorated 10-year limited warranty counted from the original installation date.

Can Cambria or Caesarstone be used outdoors?

Cambria's warranty excludes outdoor installs, even partly covered ones. Caesarstone's standard quartz warranty also excludes outdoor use, but Caesarstone sells an Outdoor Collection with its own 10-year residential limited warranty.

Where is Caesarstone made?

Caesarstone operates manufacturing plants in Israel and India and sells in more than 50 countries.
