Material is the part that varies most, because it depends on the design and brand you pick. Fabrication and installation are charged per square foot, so they scale with the size of your project.

What a Typical Quartz Countertop Project Costs

Per-square-foot pricing is useful, but a total project number is easier to plan around. Your total is roughly your square footage multiplied by the installed rate for your tier, plus any cutouts, edge upgrades and removal. The table below shows common project sizes and what tends to push each one up or down.

Standard base cabinets take a countertop about 25 to 25.5 inches deep, so a 10-foot run (120 inches) is roughly 21 square feet. Worked Example: An Average Kitchen

Say you have a 45 square foot kitchen, choose a Standard-Premium marble-look slab, keep the included eased edge, need one undermount sink cutout and want us to remove the old countertops. Your quote would be built from these lines:

• Material: 45 sq ft at the Standard-Premium material rate
• Fabrication: 45 sq ft at the per-square-foot fabrication rate
• Installation: 45 sq ft at the per-square-foot installation rate

L-Shaped Countertop Cost

L-shaped layouts are one of the most common kitchen configurations in South Florida homes and condos. To price one, measure each leg along the wall, then subtract the corner overlap from the shorter leg so the corner square is not counted twice.

For example, an L with a 10-foot leg and an 8-foot leg at 25.5 inches deep works out to about 34 square feet, or roughly three-quarters of the 45 square foot kitchen above. Its price then depends on:

• Material tier: the same 34 square feet costs the least in Entry Level and the most in Designer
• Cutouts: an undermount sink and a cooktop cutout are each priced separately
• The corner: longer L-shapes and U-shapes may need a seam at the corner, which is positioned and color-matched to keep it as discreet as possible

How Much Does It Cost to Replace Kitchen Countertops?

Replacing existing countertops with quartz is priced the same per square foot as a new install, plus a flat fee to remove and dispose of the old surface. A few things can add to a replacement project, so ask about them up front:

• Plumbing: the sink and faucet must be disconnected before removal and reconnected after the new top cures
• Cooktops: gas and electric cooktops should be disconnected and reconnected by a licensed professional
• Cabinet condition: quartz needs a level, solid base, so damaged or uneven cabinets may need attention first
• Backsplash: removing an old tile backsplash can affect the wall behind it

What Affects the Price of Quartz Countertops

Two kitchens with the same square footage can get very different quotes. These are the cost drivers, roughly in order of how much they tend to move the number.

Brand and Design Tier

Solid colors and simple speckled patterns sit in the Entry Level tier. Popular marble-look designs sit in Standard-Premium. Dramatic Calacatta and Statuario-style veining and premium lines from brands like Cambria, Silestone and Caesarstone typically fall in the Designer tier. Slab Count and Yield

Quartz comes in full slabs, and your layout has to be cut from them. How efficiently the pieces fit on each slab, called yield, matters. A layout that just barely spills onto a second slab can cost noticeably more than one that fits on a single slab. Bold veining can lower yield further, because pieces may need to be cut so the pattern flows across seams.

Square Footage and Layout

Because fabrication and installation are charged per square foot, total cost scales with size. Complex layouts with more pieces, more seams and more exposed edge take more work.

Seams

Runs longer than a slab, L-shapes, U-shapes and large islands may need seams. Each seam takes careful cutting, color-matching and setting, so layouts with more seams take more labor. Ask where the seams will fall before you sign off on a quote.

Thickness

Cutouts and Edges

Every sink, cooktop and decorative edge adds fabrication time. The eased edge is included, so keeping it is one of the easiest ways to control cost.

Backsplash

A quartz backsplash is fabricated from the same slabs and priced by the linear foot. A full-height backsplash uses more material than a short one, and it can change your slab count.

Waterfall Ends

A waterfall end carries the countertop down the side of an island to the floor. It uses extra slab material and precise mitered joints, which makes it the most expensive edge treatment on most quotes.

Removal and Plumbing

Replacing existing tops adds a removal fee. Plumbing and cooktop disconnection and reconnection may be handled separately, so confirm who is responsible for each before work starts.

Building Access

High-rise condos along the beach and the Intracoastal often require freight elevator reservations, certificates of insurance and set delivery windows.
